Alt-J (∆)
Re: Alt-J (∆)
Per me è tranquillamente tra i migliori dell'anno. Piacciono in modo trasversale poi..
Re: Alt-J (∆)
ALT-J SHARE NEW SONG ‘BUFFALO’ FROM THE ‘SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK’ ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK
RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘MATILDA’ ON 10 DECEMBER, 2012
alt-J have shared a brand new song ‘Buffalo’ featuring Mountain Man from the original motion picture soundtrack of ‘Silver Linings Playbook’, which won the People’s Choice Award when it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. The movie ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Matthew Quick, and was directed by David O. Russell (The Fighter). The movie has been praised for the outstanding performances it elicited from its actors Bradley Cooper (Hangover, Limitless), Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) and Robert de Niro. The soundtrack also features new songs from Alabama Shakes and Jessie J, as well as previously released tracks from Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder and a new score from Danny Elfman.
alt-J's new track ‘Buffalo’ gives listeners a new side to the recent Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize-awarded band. Stripping away some of the instrumental complexities that we've heard on the band's album, "Buffalo" allows guitars and drums to lead most of the way while still focusing heavily on the use of voice as a primary instrument. The steady rise and fall of the music comes like waves and builds, almost eerily, to a beautiful and simple end.

The band have also recently announced their next single ‘Matilda’ will be released on 10 December, 2012 through Infectious Music. The track is the latest release from their stunning Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize winning debut album ‘An Awesome Wave’, which crash landed into the Top 20 in June and has now spent an impressive 24 weeks within the UK Top 40, making it one of the biggest debuts of the year so far.
Live wise the band are going from strength to strength seeing them rapidly sell out both their current headline Autumn UK tour and two dates at O2 Shepherds Bush Empire in January. They recently announced their biggest UK headline tour to date for May 2013 and last week confirmed a second date at the 5,000 capacity London’s O2 Academy Brixton on 17th May, 2013 after selling out their first announced show on 16th May in a matter of weeks.
alt-J are Gwil Sainsbury [guitar/bass], Joe Newman [guitar/vocals], Gus Unger-Hamilton [keyboards] and Thom Green [drums].

The song, which features a sample of Miley Cyrus singing "I'm a female rebel" from her song "4x4," is, according to Gus Unger-Hamilton, "composed entirely of new and spontaneous ideas that arose during writing sessions for the second album. It was written very quickly using some guitar chords and sounds being layered on Ableton, and seemed to signal a bit of a new sound for us. The lyrics mainly suggest the idea that missing someone — pining — can be a physical pain much like hunger."
