troppo isteriche e morbose per me

Yes, it seems to be happier, clearer and cleaner than the debut album but The Only Place still manages to be a little subversive. Yes, while their contemporaries are still pretty much in the same pool of reverb and white noise guitars, Cosentino and her cohorts decide to move into more controlled, more matured sounds. The fuzziness of the guitars is replaced by arrangements which sound like they could have been summoned by a girl group producer from the sixties. Listen to the closer "Up All Night" and close your eyes and I bet you, you could almost see them playing American Bandstand. More importantly, the new polish does not bury the vocals, it showcases them. Cosentino is a really fine singer. She is like the new Jenny Lewis or something. And I'm glad the band actually decided to change things up a bit. Perhaps they were sick of the garage grown noise pop and decided not to smoke pot for the duration of the recording. The result is an accessible pop record filled with racing melodies and swooning female vocals. No need to panic. No need to hate.

Beh, io esprimo quello che penso ma mi pare lampante come canzoni come Why I cry e The Only Place siano spudoratamente identiche.
