The glammy, grandiose Britpop band Suede, who disbanded in 2003, will reunite to play a one-off benefit gig in London this March. The exact date hasn't been announced yet, but the show will take place at London's Royal Albert Hall, and proceeds will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Guitarist Bernard Butler, who played on Suede's classic first two albums, won't take part in the reunion. Instead, late-period guitarist Richard Oakes will join frontman Brett Anderson, bassist Mat Osman, drummer Simon Gilbert, and keyboardist Neil Codling.

This isn't the first time the band has raised money for this cause. When they won the Mercury Music Prize in 1993 for their self-titled debut album, the band donated the £20,000 that came with the prize to cancer research.

"I haven't been asked to do it. I saw Brett the other night socially, and it's not really something we're going to go on about. So, it's all in people's fantasies and imaginations really."

The guitarist also played down his role in the band's history. "They were a really successful band and I was with them for five minutes, relatively, to the history of the band," he suggested.

Butler did admit that he is likely to be in the audience for the one-off performance, and said that he doesn't think the band will have any problems in making the night a success.

"I think they'll manage this on their own. I think it's a good idea," he declared. "It's a great charity and I'll be in the front row chucking peanuts at them!"
