Ascolteremo, ma ho sempre pensato che Gira abbia trovato la formula con The Seer e To Be Kind, e da lì non si sia più mosso, anzi, gli vengono in automatico gli stessi dischi over and over. Questa, temo, ne è una dimostrazione. Poi stiamo parlando di roba serissima e di gran valore, però non è Tool, Radiohead, o quel livello lì di elaborazione e ingegno. Not at all.
Mi dispiace per Sanzen e chi ci crede, ma ecco, Swans stratosferisci, ma si fermano un po' prima.

Visti ieri a Trento: praticamente 2 ore di inediti e improvvisazioni. Quasi tutti pezzi lunghissimi. Al solito, volumi folli, però sempre un'esperienza da fare: non è il migliore concerto in assoluto a cui puoi assistere, ma è un concerto diverso da qualsiasi altro.

Parentesi: merchandising ricchissimo a prezzi decenti e infatti mi son portato a casa triplo vinile deluxe di The Seer e anche il cd di The Beggar. Ma c'erano un sacco di robe belle, tipo pure vinili degli Angels of Light e diverse t-shirt. Una volta era così per tutte le band, ma negli ultimi anni ho notato che i banchetti del merchandise sono sempre meno forniti e francamente non ne capisco il motivo, visto che mi sembra un modo per fare guadagni facili.

Swans new album, Birthing, releases worldwide May 30, 2025 on Young God Records/Mute. Formats include 3 X LP, 2CD, as well as download and stream.

“The material contained in this album was largely developed over the course of a yearlong Swans tour, during 2023 – 2024 (‘The Healers’, ‘I Am a Tower’, ‘Birthing’, ‘Guardian Spirit’, ‘Rope’, and ‘Away’), then recorded and further orchestrated and rearranged in the studio. Two pieces were created and performed in the studio (‘Red Yellow’, ‘The Merge’).

In all cases the material began with me sitting in my office with an acoustic guitar, singing and dreaming about what would become of these skeletal songs. I’m blessed to have such a stellar group of musicians to work with live (listed below), and through improvisation, endless revisions and an intensity of focus in performance (not to mention endurance), over the course of time the music morphed into what you generally hear on this collection.

This album, coupled with the recent live release, Live Rope, constitutes my final foray (as producer / impresario) into the all-consuming sound worlds that have been my obsession for years. We’ll do a final tour in this mode towards the end of 2025, then that’s it.

After that, Swans will continue, so long as I’m able, but in a significantly pared down form. Hints of that direction can be found in a few moments on the current album. In the meantime, my hope is that the music provides a positive and fertile atmosphere in which to dream.” – Michael Gira / Swans

"we can be towers just for one day" infatti è il commento che ha più like sotto al video. Penso sia voluta la citazione sonora comunque, perché è proprio uguale.

A me il pezzo piace, son contento quanto opta per composizioni lunghe e con movimenti diversi al loro interno. Gradirei un po' di rumore in più. Spero in maggior casino e distorsioni nel disco

Monolite di cui godere a volumi esagerati, ma anch’io speravo in un caos maggiore. Le aspettative con loro devono però restare alte, perché questo si sono meritati.

appena ascoltato, madonna ma la parte dopo il 13esimo minuto è Gira che mastica e sputa fuori gli Arcade Fire.

Un disco degli Swans lo si aspetta sempre con fervore. Magari ci vuole un pò di tempo per entrarci a fondo ma si è ripagati dalle epifanie. Vediamo che altra sterzata daranno alla discografia dopo l'ammorbidimento di The Beggar.
