Last week we released Lovestreams, a solo album that’s radically different from Okkervil River and that I made in 2012, via the brand new Okkervil River Patreon!
I started the Lovestreams album between “I Am Very Far” and “The Silver Gymnasium” as a private attempt to reinvigorate my songwriting and expand my musical and recording abilities. I finished it just after writing “Away,” but I kept it under wraps as a sacrificial offering. It’s one of my favorite things I’ve made & has informed so much of what I’ve done since, but it’s only now seeing the light of day.
Also via our Patreon you can hear the debut episode of my podcast Uncontrollable Light, where I take listeners on a sonic tour of the Lovestreams album and talk about the circumstances behind its creation.

Patreon è un servizio più generico di bandcamp, in pratica ti chiede un contributo di tot euro al mese per sostenere un progetto e accedere a diversi livelli di risorse. È una cosa molto orientata al fan, non tanto a chi apprezza e basta, sicuramente ci fa più soldi che con Spotify ma taglia fuori tutti quelli che non seguono l'artista X fino all'inferno.
Di solito è un servizio che sfrutta chi ha progetti multimediali di vario genere e una fanbase potenzialmente solida, tipo youtuber, streamer, fumettisti eccetera. Appunto, va bene per i fan "veri" di produttori di contenuti, altrimenti pensate a un contributo minimo di 5€ al mese (+ VAT) da dare a ogni artista che apprezziamo in qualche modo... fine degli stipendi.

Sì, infatti. Io poi i miei 15-20 o anche 30 euro li spendo volentieri per un disco che mi piace, ma non compro quasi mai a scatola chiusa. Figurarsi nel 2021 per un progetto del pur bravo Will Sheff....

Questa è gente che se ha bisogno di Patreon, significa che la vita che fa, negli USA, non la potrà continuare a fare.

Due nuovi pezzi per gli Okkervil River. Uno appena uscito oggi e l'altro "It Hasn't Happened Yet" verrà pubblicato venerdì.

mah, ha perso la quadratura da troppo tempo, forse appena ha capito che nonostante tutto il bene che aveva fatto al popolo indie coi primi album, comunque non ci mangiava. Finisce con The Silver Gymnasium, a meno che non si spurghi e ricominci dal folk.
Grande artista, peccato che non abbia amici.

Nothing Special, disco solista di Will Sheff a ottobre. Non è chiara la differenza con gli Okkervil River però
