Vampire Weekend stand a chance

La band del momento per qualcuno...
hanno anche appena registrato un MTV Unplugged

Known as erudite lads, Vampire Weekend formed in 2006 while Ezra Koenig, Chris Baio, Rostam Batmanglij, and Chris Tomson were attending Columbia University. It didn't take too long for the band's following to spread beyond the campus' boundaries. The band's Ivy League image combined with its Afro-pop inspired sound -- for which they coined the term "Upper West Side Soweto" -- quickly caught the attention of the top indie music blogs and publications. The band already had a large following eagerly awaiting the release of their self-titled debut album in early 2008 and the group broke out of indie-rock obscurity when their second single "A-Punk" made its way onto the pop charts. With their sophomore album Contra already gaining lots of buzz there should be no doubt that Vampire Weekend are here to stay.
Few bands have adapted their sound to MTV Unplugged with as much ease as Vampire Weekend. They use the performance to try out new, and in their words more "accurate," arrangements of their songs. The addition of a small string section, flutes and Batmanglii's upright piano add a chamber-pop sheen to favorites like "A-Punk," "Oxford Comma" and "M79." Their new album Contra is well represented with "White Sky," "Run" and the high-energy single "Cousins." Fans of the band and the show will love this newest addition to the MTV Unplugged canon.

E' ufficiale ragazzi: ho problemi con questa scena di indie-pop/rockers newyorkesi. L'esordio non l'ho sentito ma questo Contra lo trovo parecchio irritante sotto diversi aspetti. Vediamo se qualche ascolto ulteriore aiuta qualche pezzo ad emergere.

Il fatto è che non so nemmeno se ho la voglia di stare ad ascoltarlo.

Io li adoravo già prima, ho in vinile il debutto e sarà mio anche questo appena esce. Albarn ha l'occhio lungo, eh, fidatevi di lui!

Era ora che vi accorgeste che esistono e che sono davvero validi!!!!
Non vedo davvero l'ora di ascoltarmelo per bene questo nuovo album, se è ai livelli del primo (ma io mi aspetto anche di meglio) diventa subito uno dei miei preferiti dell'annata.

io impazzisco per Cousins, per il resto mi ci sto addentrando benino.. ci sono eccessi ma anche finezze, il tutto si bilancia.

emm lo sapete che vi sono sempre solidale su queste cose, vero? Cousins mi dà la spiacevole sensazione di uno che cammina sui carboni ardenti.
Poi bè, andando avanti riesco tranquillamente a trovare qualcosa che potrebbe piacermi. Però, non per essere sempre
contra, ma credo che al massimo potrei dire che è un disco "carino" con qualche buona canzone, sinceramente tutto questo entusiasmo generico per sti Vampire Weekend non riesco proprio a comprenderlo.

Il primo non è orribile, è solo noioso fino alla morte.
Il nuovo è già molto meglio per quanto mi riguarda.
