Flaming Lips
Flaming Lips
Disco doppio in arrivo in estate, l'articolo dall'NME
"Ronald Jones was this completely innovative guitarist that used to play in the Flaming Lips. He used to play with a quarter for a pick, so he could slide it down the strings. I’ve also never seen a guitarist with so many effect pedals. But like the King Crimson guys, Ronald was so good at incorporating new technology tastefully. He’s another guy that played from his heart and not his head."

The Flaming Lips are set to release their first-ever double album, and it is tentatively scheduled to be released late this summer.
Speaking about the album, Wayne Coyne said the decision to make it a double LP was inspired by jam sessions the band had drummer Steven Drozd’s house:
"I think with this there was an element of accidentally stumbling upon more spontaneous sort of freak-out stuff," Coyne tells Billboard. "We were sitting at (drummer) Steven's house and we just started out having these freak-out jam sessions where he'd play drums and I'd play bass and we just would sort of do freaky stuff. Some of those recordings, even though they're not recorded very well, really had a spontaneity about them that we probably wouldn't have purposely done.”
The band have already written 13 tracks for the record, which is the follow-up to 2006’s ‘At War with the Mystics’, and plan to add a further eight or nine to the effort.
The Flaming Lips will perform at the Pitchfork Festival in Chicago on July 19 and are curators of this year’s All Tomorrow’s Parties New York, which will take place in September.

Re: Flaming Lips

Un altro loro disco sottovalutato all'epoca (da me per primo), e' At the War with the Mystics (2006).

Re: Flaming Lips
riprendessero le stranezze di Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, spostando l'attenzione sul suono e l'inventiva che va oltre la melodia, il nuovo disco potrebbe essere qualcosa di esaltante. concordo con Shaun riguardo At the War with the Mystics, che seppure non mi abbia lo stesso spessore di Yoshimi, ha due o tre gemme pop, come "Mr. Ambulance Driver".
La scena canadese caga in testa a tutte le altre.
Re: Flaming Lips
Si' ma devono stare attenti, col doppio disco corrono qualche rischio "sbrodolamento", come in Zaireeka.
Re: Flaming Lips
In a search of quell'umore, io sto coi secondi
Re: Flaming Lips
